OL-TRAM 50 Tablet contains Tramadol Hydrochloride, a centrally acting opioid analgesic used for the management of moderate to moderately severe pain. It provides effective relief from both acute and chronic pain conditions, including postoperative, musculoskeletal, and neuropathic pain, working through dual mechanisms involving opioid receptor binding and inhibition of norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake.
This product is manufactured under the Dr Precision label, ensuring GMP-compliant quality and precision formulation standards.
OL-TRAM 50 Tablet is a prescription medication containing Tramadol Hydrochloride, a synthetic opioid analgesic designed to manage moderate to moderately severe pain. As a centrally acting agent, it is widely used in clinical settings for conditions where conventional analgesics such as NSAIDs may be inadequate. Its pharmacological action involves two primary mechanisms: weak agonism of the mu-opioid receptors and inhibition of the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin in the central nervous system, leading to enhanced pain modulation.
Tramadol’s dual-action makes OL-TRAM 50 particularly effective for both nociceptive and neuropathic pain. Unlike traditional opioids, Tramadol has a lower potential for respiratory depression and dependency when used as prescribed, although it must still be used with caution due to its opioid classification. Upon administration, OL-TRAM is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, with peak plasma concentrations typically occurring within two hours. It begins to alleviate pain within 30 to 60 minutes, offering relief that can last for four to six hours depending on the severity of the pain and the patient's metabolic response.
OL-TRAM 50 Tablet is indicated for use in a variety of clinical scenarios. These include postoperative pain, osteoarthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia, cancer-related pain, and pain caused by injuries or medical procedures. In chronic pain conditions, especially those involving nerve damage or inflammatory components, OL-TRAM is often preferred due to its central action and tolerability over extended periods under close medical supervision.
The tablet is generally taken orally with or without food and is often prescribed every 4 to 6 hours depending on the patient’s pain level and medical history. The dosage should be tailored to each individual, taking into account age, renal or hepatic function, and concurrent medication use. It is crucial that the recommended dosage is not exceeded, as higher doses may increase the risk of seizures, serotonin syndrome, or dependency.
OL-TRAM 50 is metabolized primarily in the liver through the cytochrome P450 enzyme system and is excreted through the kidneys. Special caution is advised in patients with hepatic or renal impairment, as impaired metabolism and elimination can lead to accumulation of the drug and increased side effects. Elderly patients may also require dosage adjustments due to age-related physiological changes.
Common side effects associated with OL-TRAM include nausea, dizziness, constipation, headache, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Serious adverse reactions, though rare, may include respiratory depression, serotonin syndrome (especially when combined with SSRIs, SNRIs, or MAO inhibitors), and seizure activity in predisposed individuals. It is also known to cause psychological or physical dependence if misused over time. Therefore, patients are advised not to abruptly discontinue the drug without medical guidance, especially after prolonged use, to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Patients with a history of substance abuse, respiratory disorders, or epilepsy should use OL-TRAM only under strict medical supervision. Alcohol consumption and concurrent use of sedatives, other opioids, or psychotropic medications should be avoided due to the increased risk of central nervous system depression.
